Conference interpreting

This type of interpreting can usually be divided into conference consecutive (sometimes known as high consecutive) and conference simultaneous. Conference consecutive interpreting is used where the speaker speaks for a long period of time (even for minutes), with the interpreter taking notes to assist them to interpret the entire speech once the speaker finishes. With conference simultaneous interpreting, cabins are used (standard permanent structures or portable cabins). For this reason, this type of interpreting is often known as cabin interpretation.
